  14 This is a patch release designed to fix the few bugs that\r
  15 users had reported with our last major release, 1.9.17p3.\r

  17 This release adds no new functionality, and if you\r
  18 were not impacted by the bugs then there is no need\r
  19 to upgrade from 1.9.17p3.\r
  20 \r
  21 Note however, that *all* users should upgrade to at\r
  22 least Samba version 1.9.17p2 due to a critical security\r
  23 bug fix that was integrated at that time.\r
  24 \r
  25 RedHat rpm files for Linux will be made available for \r
  26 this release, their availability will announced at a\r
  27 later date.\r

  43 Update release: Samba - version 1.9.17p4.\r

  46 This is the latest stable release of Samba. This is the\r
  47 version that all production Samba servers should be running\r
  48 for all current bug-fixes.\r

  50 Here are a list of the fixes in this release (the fixes\r
  51 introduced between 1.9.17p3 and 1.9.17p4) :\r
  52 \r
  53 1). Fix in nmbd for Windows 95 machines hanging on logout !\r
  54 2). Fix for slow share mode code leaving zero length share\r
  55     files.\r
  56 3). Fix for security = server, some broken NT4.x servers don't \r
  57     set the guest bit on connections. New code to check logged \r
  58     in user matches requested user.\r
  59 4). Fix for security = server. Problem with previous workaround\r
  60     which caused machine logon restrictions on an NT server to fail.\r
  61     This code has been completely re-written.\r
  62 5). New option 'dos filetimes' to fix UTIME_WORKAROUND problem.\r
  63 6). Fix so nmbd ignores loopback packets.\r
  64 7). Fix for nmbd ignoring WINS negative responses.\r
  65 8). New PAM support from RedHat for new PAM version.\r
  66 9). Memory leak fix when files included from an smb.conf\r
  67     are changed.\r
  68 10). Client now logs when connecting as 'guest'.\r
  69 11). Updated documentation.\r
